TURIN 10 JULY 2008
Morning plenary session
| Infomobility as a key word for development: trends, markets, and institutions from the players’ point of view
| 09:30 - 13:00 - Sala Cavour
| Chairman: Gianluigi Ferri, Wireless
| The demand for rationalisation of intermodal transport and passengers lies at the heart of growth in the infomobility services market and of development and implementation of intelligent transport services (ITS). On-board telematics is becoming an essential for the auto industry. The number of cars equipped with communications systems is growing. The future of this segment depends on the capacity to integrate navigation technologies and wireless digital communications, via cellular networks or WiFi.

Afternoon Sessions
| E-Ticketing: the new forms of electronic payment for mobility and parking
| 14:30 – 17:00 Sala Cavour
| Chairman: Daniele Mazzocchi – ISMB
| Demand is growing from users for the ability to receive information in real time, and also for innovative services for buying tickets to move around, travel, attend sporting events and go to museums. Ticketing systems based on smart-card or contactless technologies, especially applied to the transport sector, are gaining momentum and their benefits are increasingly evident, both for the companies providing the services and for the end users, especially in terms of efficiency, cost, security and flexibility.
But the role of electronic ticketing is not just to reduce costs by improving service management. There are also advantages for the planning and design of services for the user community, as well as at a regional level through the exchange of information about mobility. Given the many applications of contactless systems in the tap-and-go payment sector, it seems that following the interest shown by transit operators and banks, in the coming years e-ticketing systems will see exponential development.
